Body Contouring

in Birmingham, Alabama, 35223 at ALABAMA PLASTIC SURGERY

Cosmetic Body Contouring can effectively address areas that are resistant to exercise and diet. Problem areas of localized fat deposits, excessive and loose sagging skin, a protruding abdomen in various degrees, sagging breasts or buttocks can be difficult or impossible to get rid off without surgical intervention. These stubborn areas are caused by the aging process, fluctuation in weight, smoking, pregnancy, prior surgery and genetics. If you struggle with a disproportionate contour Dr. Moor will help you in deciding which surgical procedure(s) will be of most benefit to you. Cosmetic body contouring procedures are an effective treatment of body contours from the small isolated fat pockets to the excision of large amounts of skin and fat after post bariatric weight loss surgery. Despite good health, a reasonable level of fitness and a healthy diet, some people find that they still struggle with disproportionate body contours. Since there are areas of the body that do not respond well to the above measures, surgical intervention may be helpful.

In your consultation with Dr. Gene Moor at ALABAMA PLASTIC SURGERY you will get the opportunity to discuss your wishes and learn your treatment options. Dr. Gene Moor will give you a professional opinion as to which procedure is best for you. Together with Dr. Moor you will design a personal plan taking into account the extend of your problem areas. This procedure or these procedures may be performed on the same day or as in severe weigh loss, Dr. Moor may recommend staged procedures over time. On occasion he will design a custom operation to meet your specific needs.

  • Liposuction
  • Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck
  • Belt lipectomy or Belt lift
  • Mastopexy or Breast lift
  • Brachioplasty or Arm lift
  • Panniculectomy
  • Thigh lift

Dr. Gene Moor will give you a professional evaluation as to which procedure is best for you. At times he may recommend several procedures that can be performed simultaneously or in stages. The MommyMakeOver is an example. Dr. Gene Moor is an expert in liposuction, abdominoplasty, belt lipectomy, arm lift, thigh lift and treatment for post bariatric patients as well as all breast surgery. Liposuction combined with abdominoplasty is often done at Alabama Plastic Surgery.

These procedures are not intended as weight loss procedures and the best results are usually achieved when the patient is close to her or his ideal weight. However, they can do a lot to achieve a positive body image. There are many occasions when the patient is still in excess of the ideal weight and surgical intervention helps give female or male patients a kick start towards a healthier life style.

Liposuction is a surgical technique used by Dr. Moor to remove narrow deposits of excess fat that remain in specific areas of the body despite dieting and exercise. Dr. Moor uses Vaser Ultra Sonic Liposuction for the medial thigh gap.  Liposuction can be performed in the face, neck, arms, breast, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. Dr. Moor uses a combination of the Vaser (Ultra Sonic) liposuction and traditional Liposuction to achieve the desired result. See Liposuction under procedure.

A healthy diet and regular abdominal workouts sometimes does little to eliminate excess fat and loose sagging skin in the abdominal area. An Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) removes the excess skin and fat from the abdomen resulting in a flatter, tighter abdominal profile.

Belt Lipectomy

Aging, pregnancy, or any significant fluctuation in weight, as well as genetic factors, may contribute to poor tissue elasticity resulting in the sagging of skin. With the Belt Lipectomy, the redundant lower abdominal and buttock skin is excised. The person who suffers from loose sagging skin and uneven contour of the lower trunk, abdomen, and buttocks region may want to consider a Belt Lipectomy.

Mastopexy - Breast Lift

The Breast lift raises and firms the breast by removing excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissue to re-shape and support the new breast contour. The areolar may be reduced in size and/or breast implant may be added.

Brachioplasty - Arm Lift

Brachioplasty reduces the excess skin that droops downward from the under arm region to the elbow, "flags" or "wings". The end result is a reshipped arm with smoother skin and contour.

Mini Tummy Tuck

The mini tummy tuck is best suited for the young, post pregnancy patient who has minimal redundant skin and suffers from the post pregnancy lower abdominal bulge.

Thigh Lift

The thigh lift reduces excess skin and fat of the medial thigh, resulting in smoother skin and better promotional contour of the thigh. The incision varies based on the area to be treated. Dr. Moor will design a procedure, with your help, that best suits your needs.

Mommy Makeover

Mommy Makeover is a term most often referring to commonly performed cosmetic procedures for postpartum women. The most common procedures preformed are tummy tucks, breast lifts, liposuction, and breast augmentation. Dr. Moor will help you decide which combination of these procedures best fit your goals.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer is a process of aspirating fat from one location of the body and injecting it into another. Fat grafting can be used to treat facial wrinkles, correct atrophic aging of the hand, post surgical and post traumatic defects to injecting the breast of buttocks to increase volume. Please consult Dr. Moor at Alabama Plastic Surgery for more details.
